pro-touring project....Vagabondo

Hi gang, been lurking arround the site for a while and thought I'd introduce my project to the board. I have to be honest and state right off the hop, I'm mechanically challenged and have professionals building my dream ride up here in Toronto.
The following is a breif description of the car: -1972 Camaro RS White with Black stripes & interior -556 cu all aluminum Dart stoker motor with Brodix heads that runs on pump gas (came in today ^5) -1,000 Holley carb (like a old school approach "Big CU & Carb") -Tremic TKO 600 -Wildwood brakes -Complete new drop in Mosser 12 bolt rear end (housing, pod, gears, etc) -Hotschkis sway bars -Q-1 adjustable coil overs up front -Composite rear spring -Classic air system -power windows -6 power custom seats/ interior -Custom dash pannel with Auto Metre guage cluster. It's a complete frame off restoration that is being taken down to bare metal (currently in paint shop) and represents a lot of years of dreaming. I have two sons and you know the story,,,,had to get them through school etc., etc, etc. now it's dad's time.....I plan to spend some serious time cruising in the States this summer and I'm happy to say this ride is no trailer queen,,,it's gonna be "visiting a town near your soon" lmao....Hope to have the car ready for Carlisle & the Camaro Nationals,,,but we'll see. Anyways, hope you like what my idea of "fun" is and look forward to possibly meeting some of the great people of this site at various shows. Here are a few pic's of the project......(the rear end is being changed out to a 12 bolt since this pic) |

Awesome. What a beast of a motor! :D

We're really looking forward to putting it though some paces Scott,,,,,,with a lite weight block, good heads and custom grind cam and a Callie Ultra-lite rotating mass the engine should spool up real quickly whilst fooling the chasis into thing it's a small block for weight distribution;-)

Mind if I ask which local shop you're having build it? Scheming up a little project of my own.

Sorry Croaker, just noticed I didn't respond to you......It's a private shop.
Thanks for asking Syborg tt, the has been evolving slowly as I have 2 other concurrent projects on the go as well (1970 Formula Pro-touring car and a project 70 Z clone with a 383 & 700R4)..... Latest updates: We tried some Headman big tubes and lost a month to delivery, rejection and booking/scheduling in at the custom fabricators shop (note the guys at Headman were very helpful,,,just did have the right product for this application as it turned out).....Following that our desire to step headers and the later decision to move the engine down roughly 2 inches and back two inches completely eliminated the Headman option (note update pic's taken prior to the motor move)....After discussing the drive line with the spring manufacture it was determined that a Carbon fiber mono spring to fit the applications space constraints wouldn't work out....We opted for a steel mono spring application with adjustable QA1 shocks on the rear. We hope to get back at it again in the next few weeks ,,,,looks like spring 2009 is going to be a lot of fun all things equal (LOL... famous last words LOL)... Here are a few update shots |
