What are you going to put that beast into? I love how it makes 650 ft-lbs at only 4500 rpm.

A decently built 4L80E will handle that combo fine. I also wonder what it is going in as the tall decks are pretty snug in some cars.
You also will be able to run the paddle shifter from Twist Machine whic is super cool. Jody |
We were hoping it will fit the 69 camaro, but were looking into it. *crosses fingers* :_paranoid

I think hood clearance will be an issue unless you lower the motor in the car. You mention non electric which would make it a 4L80, not a 4L80 E. You would be much happier with the electric tranny being able to manipulate shift points, and as Jody mentioned, PADDLE SHIFTER!

Wow. Thanks for the plug guys.
Yeah it would be a shame to eliminate the electronics from a 4L80E. Paddle shifter aside, once you have calibrated an electronic automatic to your liking, you will never go back. Expect increased performance, versatility and even reliability. Improper line pressure and shift timing can cause premature wear. The ability to install a paddle shifter is really just icing on the cake. If a 10.200 deck height 572 becomes a problem, consider a 9.800 deck height 540. In fact you will probably be happier overall in the long run. |
oil pan
oil pan on that motor is pretty deep. If you are going to run the car low you will have problems with ground clearence.
