MEFI Harness gromet
 

What advice or ideas for a gromet to pass the large MEFI harness through the
firewall. Thats not a thing I want to do half assed. Any sources, PICS
would be great thanks.

We use a product called seals-it they started off making grommets for Nascar and have started selling to the public. They make about every shape and size you can think of.

I know this is a little late, but maybe others can use the info...

The hot ticket is not to use a grommet, but a bulkhead connector from say Delphi or Deutsch. They make all different sizes and shapes, are waterproof, and compact. To give an idea, look at these attached pics:

To cover your harness, use the expandable tubing/flex loom, which is easy to work with, and looks professional....

Those pics are of the high-density units, though they make many different pin arrangements. On my FAST XFi, there's 48 wires that need to pass, though in my case, only 36 are used. You can split the harness into sensors and injector, using two jointing harnesses.

A bulkhead connector is an excellent idea and VERY convenient... and better yet are ITT / Cannon mil-spec "bullet" multi-pin connectors similar to what is shown in your 2nd picture.

I know my project is going to need bulk head connectors, and I like to be able to disconnect modules for service (and to make Tracy Weaver happy).

Looks like Sparky uses the best out there. There are Delphi, Cannon, Deutsch and others that provide aviation style round and square bulkhead connectors. Here's a couple:

We use them in aviation and they are expensive + require special tools, but they are the best solutions and eliminate reliability issues (plus they look cool as hell...)
