There are different government-mandated standards on verts vs. coupes. Insurance premiums and the cost to build them is usually also higher on a vert. Premiums are higher for obvious reasons but GM's cost, hence consumer cost, would be too high to make the coupe meet the crash and rollover standards without a b-pillar. Remember, the Camaro needs to appeal to the younger crowd who needs an affordable car in order for GM to sell enough to make it worthwhile. My guess is that along with a b-pillar, the Camaro doors will not be frameless as on the concept. We get a b-pillar, a rear window that won't open and a fully framed door thanks to the beaurocrats and the tough crash standards.
