Thumbs up 1973 Porsche 917/30...

Was at Bruce Canepa's cars & coffee event today and since they're once a month,I usually see most everything and just concentrate on the cars that are out in the parking lot...because you'll see stuff that'll just blow your mind!

This 917/30 though was in such a perfect setting with the white background that I couldn't pass it up...and I thought I'd share.

This car is special for me indeed because in 1973 when I was a sophomore in HS,a good friend of mine dad's worked for SCRAMP and somehow I ended up with winners circle tickets so after Donohue literally destroyed the field in the 1,580hp beast that weighed just a scant 1,800 lbs...he pulled it right into the circle and I was sitting almost right on the nose.

Something I will never forget for sure...

That's my favorite race car of all time. The other one is still living. It's painted white with red stripes and meatballs. Not near as cool as the Sunoco war paint. These cars had a big knob on the right knee of the driver that connected a cable to the wastegate. Every turn was something like an additional 150hp. How savage is that?! This car single handily terminated the Can-Am series just die to its pure power and speed capability over the McLarens. What a monster.
