Default Engine color selection

So this one isn't much of an engine topic as my goal for the C10 is to drive good, look good, and sound good. I'm having a hard time deciding what to do and thought I'd ask for input. What color should I paint my engine?

Here's my truck below. I picked up a 350 with Edelbrock's Pro-Flo 4 injection recently. I intend to run Holley's midmount accessory system in black. I'm hoping to pull off an OEM+ type look. I would like to clean up the firewall getting rid of excess seam sealer etc and repaint it in the factory gold without clear. I might do the same for the inner fenders but leave the tubs satin black. I'll hide wiring and hoses, too.

I don't want black or hugger orange for the engine. Too common for me. I was thinking I would back date it with corporate blue using the older Chevrolet script valve covers with the script in black. However, I'm having a hard time finding examples to look at to see if I would like it. I'm concerned how it would look against the gold, too. I'm open to other colors entirely. Buick red maybe?

Thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Before I finished reading I was thinking of that GM blue the engines of that era came with.

Default Cast Iron Grey

I like cast iron grey as it has a little bit of bronze color to it.

Olds gold would look really good in your truck too.

Sticking with an earthtone could look really cool imho!

Thanks for the links, Ty. I'll check out the colors.

Yes, Jody, the trucks in the 70s had corporate blue for the engine color. Mine was black from the factory. I appreciate the picture. The black script looks good on the blue. I intend to paint my heads blue too since they are cast iron currently. I don't think I want to deal with heads and cam just yet. I can do that after it's running.

Thank you, both.

What about a champagne metallic like GM has used through the years?

I'm a huge fan of this color for a car. Not sure about an engine though. I was thinking the gold tint might help it match but the silver would help it stand out. Maybe.

I like it! But if I were to go that route then I'd just match the engine to the top color of the truck. jmho

Thanks, Ty. I've thought about that too. I might do it, but I'm leaning towards no.

One thought that has come into my head is to keep the earth color theme I have going and paint it a flat red similar to red clay or terracotta. I definitely want it red but not glossy or a true red. I think I'm going to explore that for the time being.

Always open to suggestions.

Thanks

Default Cohesive colors

Just be careful not to have too many colors going... Ben Hermance once told me something to the effect of staying with no more than 3 colors repeated throughout a car.

Take a look at two-piece's Camaro: the engine, brake calipers and interior are all the same blue while everything else is black. It's just a killer look and very cohesive imho.

This is true and on my mind, too. I'm just having a hard time seeing the engine in gold. I'm also concerned it would be too much gold since the firewall will be gold. I have plenty of time to make a decision and think about this. It'll be next year before the engine goes in I believe.

Thanks
