to pulse or not to pulse
I've been teaching myself how to tig lately as my newest skill that I want to learn. I'm getting the hang of it except for shiny welds on stainless. I cannot seem to keep the heat from getting excessive and turning the weld grey. I'm convince this is the issue as I have cleaned everything very well before starting. I have also made many adjustments to both my setup and methods. I get close but not good enough.
One thing I have not tried is using the pulse settings. My concern is that this is a crutch, and I'll learn bad habits. Is that the case or am I being ridiculous? Who uses the pulse settings with stainless steel and who doesn't?
Thanks!
