Default Stereo advice,,

I was going to install a classictrucks rally console in my Camaro but since I ordered TMI interior I have decided to go with there console as well. I originally planned on installing the stereo in the front angled portion of the console, however the new console does not have this. It is just flat, I am wondering what good ideas anyone has on maybe a remote type stereo that would mount in the truck somewhere. Then just have a small remote up front? I did see a Rockford Fosgate boat stereo that was a flat panel, Don't know if anybody has used this or not. Thanks in advance for the input

Thanks Travis, I just wanted you to see that I was using the new marine RF unit, and how I integrated into the console.

Mine is a full unit so its about 4" deep, but some of the others are just remotes and are VERY slim and can mount just about anywhere.

Cheers
Steve

I will look into the marine stuff, I was thinking a nice double din with navigation..However it's not a necessity. I live in Wyoming,, It's pretty hard to get lost here! That is a nice job your doing there, Keep up the good work.

Travis - I had the Scosche deck mounted in my trunk and it runs off an app on your phone. Worked ok but had some issues so I went with the JL audio bluetooth hookup that plugs into my amp. I am only playing off my itunes playlist anyway so I control everything on my iphone. Super clean and easy plus only $40. http://www.jlaudio.com/mbt-rx-marine...receiver-91126

I also saw this at SEMA this year. http://mbquart.com/polaris-audio/blu...-audio-remote/ Its small but gives you the control in hand vs on your phone.

Bluetooth is the direction everyone is going so just search and you will find all kinds of options if you aren't married to CD's and FM.

Best of luck

Thanks for the info Jeff, I like the idea of hiding stuff,,however my wife thinks we need a navigation stereo,, you know because there are at least 20 different roads in Wyoming that we could get lost on. I am sure she just does not want to be. Lost with me! I am going to wait until I get my console. Then see what I have for room between it and the dash. That Polaris controller is pretty nice setup. I listen mainly to Xm or pandora. I am hell on cds. I will post up some pictures when I get to that point in the project..
Thanks again..

I will be looking for a unit that supports either Apple CarPlay or Android CarPlay to use the navigation already provided with a smart phone.

I bought and installed one of these in my 55 Chevy. Incredibly easy to hook up and use. Once paired, I just use my phone for volume, and music selection. iHeart radio, iTunes etc....

This unit doesn't require an external amp. I am really impressed. With all then windows down it rocks all four speakers without being at even half volume.
