Default 58 1/4" wide rear end. What backspacing?

Specs:

9" rear axle from a 77-ish Merc. Monarch, factory disk, measures 58 1/4" wide from wheel mount surface to wheel mount surface.

Planning on running TT2's 17x9.5" with a 275/40 or MAYBE a 285/40 tire.

I know with the stock rear axle at 60" wms-wms that 5.5" b/s is what I need, but putting the 9" in at 1-3/4" narrower I believe I need 4-1/2" b/s instead.

Should give a little deeper dish and the illusion of a wider tire/wheel package.

Sheet metal is stock 69 camaro, minor rolling of fender lip, stock tubs/suspension. Im not planning on cutting on our car so I just need somebody to verify my thinking is in-line with what I need. Planning on calling A/R and ordering first of next week and will run it past them as well. Was going to call yesterday but ran out of time. Thought Id run it past you guys in the meantime.

TIA

Chris

Doing the math, a 4.625 backspace would put you exactly where you want to be. The 4.5 only being a .125 difference should work, but American will custom built the 4.625 for you.

Let us know if you need more help with the wheels. We can extend a great deal on those for you too.

Thanks for the quick reply! Nice site BTY

Fronts are already purchased and on the car;

TT2, 17x8 (4.75" backspacing) - 5x4.75 pattern. Tires are Kumho ECSTA SPT 235/45WR17
I needed tires bad and wasent going to pay $$$ for a set just to take them off later knowing what it would eventually get. I didnt purchase the rears at the time because I didnt have exact measurements on the rear axle untill now.

Lug pattern on the rear will be stock ford. Do you guys drop ship? Ill dig up my quote for the rear rims if you guys want a shot at it. Id rather support a vendor here anyway. Ill give you a call Monday if your game.

Chris

Edit: price quoted for the rears (TT2 polished, 17x9.5 5-4.75 5-1/2" bs) was $270 per wheel + tax. I paid $209ea for the fronts.
