Default ame tri 4 bar vs ame 3 link

What are the differences between the AME tri 4 bar and their 3 link set up (other than one has 3 bars and the other has4)? Which gives better handling for a street car? By looking at the two, it looks like with the 3 link, the floor needs to be cut out more. What other differences are there?

A triangulated 4 link is ok but from what i seen a 3 link with a watts link is the best handling for a straight axle car.Can you give me a link to there site and what car is it for.

There's is actually a triangulated 4 bar set up, not a 4 link. Mine is going on a 68 Acadian/Nova. Their site is http://artmorrison.com/

We are going to be doing a tech story with Super Chevy later this year showing the performance differences between these suspensions. With one of our project cars, we are going to have all the mounts for a three link and a tri 4-bar. We will run the skidpad and slalom with the tri 4-bar and then swap our the bars making the rear a 3-link with watts link. We will then run the slalom and skid pad again. Same car, same tire and wheel, same front suspension, same driver, same course; the only thing that is going to change is the rear suspension. It is going to be a great tech piece and will answer a lot of questions about this much discussed topic!

Hopefully they will put one of their "good" writers on that story..

Default Hey Craig

I sent you an email and did not get a response. I am interested in you tri 4 bar set-up.

The question I have is...my car is completed and painted underneath and I don't want to cut into the car. I do not want to put the clip in. Is there anyway to use the tri-4 package, and not the clip, in my 1st gen Camaro. As in use the stock spring pockets for the lower bar mount and weld brackets to my existing frame rails for the upper bars. I asked this question to one of your sales people but not sure if he understood what I was speaking about.

If I cannot do this with your existing kit, would your company do a custom kit for me?

Not to high jack this thread but it is long the same lines as the topic and maybe the info will help you as well.

Default Thanks

I had sent him an email as well. I am looking forward to his response.

I meant to state this earlier, but what you are going to do with the 3 link and tri-4 is just unheard of and what everone wants to see. I, for one, cannot wait to see the results of that test.

Cool Craig, this test is what we all have been waiting for...and you are right, the SAME car has to be used the SAME day!

Can you resend that email? I think it may have been thrown into my junk mail folder...

We are all pretty excited to see what the results are. Our triangulated 4-bar is actually fairly bind-free (to a point, of course) and is of an very proven design. But, the three link has more adjustability and competition-oriented design and function. Time will tell!
