Default What is a new 5.3 worth?

Hey guys, looking at possibly picking up a 5.3 that is complete minus wiring harness. Seller is unsure of year, but he said that it is throttle by wire. Has all fuel injection, flexplate, exhaust manifolds, etc. This is brand new, not used.

If anyone has any idea as to what this would be worth, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

I have someone trying to sell this to me for $2000 in a crate. It is brand new though, not used. Is it worth it, or am I better off buying a used one?

My 402 LS2 is for sale..

But, on the 5.3L deal.. the problem is that they are so crazy cheap used that even the price new shouldn't be that much. Heck, I bought one complete for $300 once (25k miles).

I suppose $1600 ish would be fair and the "newness" would be worth the extra.

And sure, a complete engine has the drive system and intake, but do you WANT to run those?

Honestly dude, just get a used one for like $200 and use that other $1600 for a big ass cam, heads and all that good stuff. For $1600 and a little bit of skills with a welder you could turbo it and be safe for a good amount of power.

car-part.com

After selecting something like chevy truck 1500 (1999 and up), scroll down and click on the number with an asterisk that's grayed out. This will give you the lowest price. Locally in Mn some have a short warranty as well.

Thanks for all of the responses guys! I think I will go through a used one being that I will end up changing cam, possibly heads, etc.

if your wanting to go the 5.3 route, why not look at the 6.0l. same money for the most part, and if you get the ss or cadillac version, they have aluminum heads and are unbelivably with a tune and some headers. just my .02

I'm not set on a 5.3, I had someone come in today letting me know that he was selling this. I just know that I am wanting to do a LS style motor in my next project and I wasn't up on whether or not this was a good price.
