Power Steering Fluid Temps?

Anyone ever record or have any data on the temp of power steering fluid?

With a stock but fast ratio system on a road course, I have seen 300+ degrees, so it was even higher out on the track. I have seen melted seals, damaged pumps and boxes at those temps, the Teflon seals in the box will melt. With good cooling and a remote reservoir, you can come off the track and hold your hand on the reservoir. I would like to see temps below 240 which will require at least a remote cooler, and possibly a remote reservoir too.

To add to what David said, if the Teflon seals are failing due to temperature, then they are probably seeing temps in excess of 500 degrees F. Teflon (PTFE) has an official melting point of 621 degrees according to dupont, however it's mechanical properties begin to rapidly degrade at about 500.

The cooler you can keep your power steering fluid the better...you can't overcool it like you can automatic transimissions.

turn one, says to run car hard for a few laps, then check temp, he wants to see 275 or below, if not add cooler or bigger cooler.
