Default Speedtech A-Body Suspension Questions:

Anyone know answers to the following:

1. Front trackwidth for 1965 A-body using the Speedtech Arms & their AFX spindles?

2. Hub centerline to lower frame rail height w/ AFX spindles?

3. What is the bolt pattern and stud length on the AFX spindles?

4. What is the coilover length for nominal, compression, and rebound?

5. Is the DSE Splined Sway Bar compatible with the Speedtech Spindles?

6. Is anyone running their control arms and AFX spindles on a '64 or '65 A-Body?

Thanks, Josh

1. Stock unchanged "Should be " 58.9 front and rear
2. depends on your ride height and wheel/tire diameter
3. 5 on 4.75 m12.1.5 thread and 1.25 long
4 are you asking about qa1 GMP kit Compressed 11.63 ext 17.00 ride height ideally would be in the middle.
5 should have no issues with the spindles the lower arm mount will need to be adapted to fit.
6 yes don't know if they are on here or not??

does that answer everything?

Default Thanks!

Blake, thanks so much for your quick response!

For Question 2, I'm ultimately trying to determine how low I can make the car using your spindles and A-arms for a 20" wheel running a 285/30, without reducing overall suspension travel / increasing the spring rate to a point where it is not street worthy. That tire/wheel size would be about 13.4" ground to center of the wheel. So I wasn't sure what that would make the frame rail to ground measurement.

I was hoping to get the frame to be close to 4" off the ground without modifying the floorpan. I plan on running custom inner fenders or no fenders in the front and a custom 3 link and mini-tubs in the rear.

Thanks, Josh

This car has all our stuff on it.
Front and Rear
The Fronts are 19"s with 265's if i remember and the rears are 20x 10 with 295.
I know it's not the same year but consider the ride height is adjustable by 3" and I would run a 550 lb spring, you will be happy with the ride and can always soffen/ stiffen the ride with the shock valving.

Default That is one sweet Chevelle!

Blake, thanks for the pics and more info about this car, the stance is awesome. The finish on the car almost looks matte, goes well with the wheels.

You mentioned the suspension is adjustable by 3", are you accomplishing this by compressing the spring on the coilover, swapping for a shorter coil, or reducing the length of the coilover? Also, how are you accommodating for the increase in negative camber as you lower the car, lots of shims?

in the front it is adjustable by 3/4" at the control arm by mounting the t bar on either the inside or the bottom or the spring cup, that is equal to about 1-1.25" at the wheel. then you can adjust the lower coil over collar another 1" which = about 2" at the wheel.
in the back there are 2 mounting locations for the coil over 1.5" there, then adjusting the coil over another 1.5"

As the camber goes more negative when you lower the car you need to Remove shims not add them. you would probably want to run -3/4 camber but the best answer is to swap to the ATS spindles. then you don't need to run as much Static - Camber.
