Hey Rich! Rupp is running a Viper T56 (or was last I checked) that probably has a similar gear ratios w 3.89s. That car's a little zippy

I'm running the closer ratio (2.66 first/.62 sixth) and 3.70s on my LS7. Not on the road yet, but I think sixth will be mostly useless below 80 on 26" rear tires.

Edit: There's a number of calculators out there:

Thanks Ron- Im thinking I might have a better chance of using 6th with the 3.90s. With the tko600 I have 2.87 first gear and the 3.90s feel real good and it moves out quick. I figure 2.97 isn't much more.

In my last car, I had the same engine, cam, trans, and a 3.70 rear. I loved it. At 70mph, I turned 1650rpm and could drive in 6th all the way down to 1200rpm.

Really it comes down to the overall intent of the car. Mine was mostly street driven and I really liked the combo. My previous car had a LS1 with a maggie on it with 4.10's and the .5 t56. I had 410 ft/lbs at 2000rpm and I liked that setup also.

With these cars, it really comes down to getting a really good tune, after that, they like almost any gear you put in it!

I have the T56 with 2.97-1st and .50-6th gear and I run 4.11 with 295/35-18's out bact. On the freeway cruising around 80 mph it's at +-2,100 rpms.

At the autocrosses it seems to be fine for most of the tracks.
