From the lip of the oil pan to the bottom of the drain bolt, it's 8 1/4". The area around the drain bolt is closer to 8". That's the deepest part of the pan. Where the drain bolt goes in, there's a part that is out from the rest of the pan. Hope that makes sense. I can take more measurements if you need.
