This is a 68 camara that came into my shop at Royalworks Speed Shop to get some rust repair and metal work done. long story short we ended up restoring the whole car. Here are some pics.
When it first came in:
the quarters needed replaced. then as we dug in realized the whole trunk needed replaced too
the trunk didnt come with a back lip to it so we made one
dont worry, the welds were cleaned up on them later when we finished the trunk. we make sure we get bare metal covered right away though to prevent any kind of surface rust or anything happening
fenders and doors are the original parts. there were a few dents that we had to fix and a few rust spots that were cut out and patched. We also had them all sandblasted
we also went through the process of making this car straighter than factory. So one thing we did was shrink the natural bubble the doors had. We also cut the back braces of the fenders to make them curve perfectly with doors and have all the body lines matched up exactly
then for the paint... the owner wanted an original 68 gm color that was blue, he originally had a teal color and the only other one i saw for his camaro was fathom blue but at the last minute i found this. Lemans blue, used on 68 corvettes and z28s. the owner said yes and also wanted white racing stripes with it
btw just had to show. this is still in primer but blocked out with 600
our goal was to get it to the hot rod super nationals. it was a hard goal to make considering we were still in metal work just a couple weeks before the show. needless to say there were some long nights and even a few all nighters pulled off for this, but it made it there mostly put together lol.
that was the morning off. just got done painting it 2 days before, buffing 4 hours before, and assembled as many parts as possible until the trailer got there to deliver it. The car is just getting a few things finished up and should be done in the next week with everything back on it. ill get the final pics up when that happens.

Very straight! Love that color too. The blues GM used in the 60s and 70s were fantastic. I think even the greens were great too but maybe I'm weird like that.
Good job guys and welcome to the site.
