Default 69 camaro build

Hey guys, Im new to the site from the Norcal Eastbay area. I really didnt know this site was for older cars, I thought it was primarily for g35 and m3 owners but after some research I discovered that this was the site I should have been on from the start. Originally I started on Camaros.net and Ls1tech.com, those sites are great. They have members that are really helpful with alot of knowledge but I think this site has more members on the same page as I. Many users on Camaros.net were primarily people restoring theyre cars to stock, some were restomods or pro touring but most were the oposite. Ls1tech simply had more people with ls1's (obviously, I want one but cant afford now) and the majority were not gen 1 f bodies or older cars in general. So here is what I have, I have a 69 Camaro. The car was believed to be a possible z28 or ss car by the guy that sold it to me but I havent been able to confirm that. The signs point to no however, nevertheless what I have is a car that had a lot of sheetmetal replaced, a new 350, a 4spd, and a ton of extra parts that I would later need or be able to sell and get more parts. Heres what I have done since having the car, I had all the sheetmetal welded into place and the body work done. I got the seats redone in leather and suede and used the tmi cushions in the front seats for a racing feel. The next thing I did was put tubular a arms and new shocks and springs on, after that I put electric hideaway lights and hid bulbs on. I knew I wanted to do something for floor so I put a rust preventative and dynomat substitute on( I liked how it came out) . Next was a hotchkis hollow sway bar and a set of qa1 double adjustable coil overs and shocks, finally what I did was put a ss hood and hotchkis sub frame connectors welded in. I recently bought a set of brembo brakes from a 2010 camaro, I painted the calipers using the g2 caliper paint kit and am currently doing homework on how to make those work and the ls brakes in the rear. Currently the car has stock front disc rear drum. Other than brakes I have to change the rallies to some rims I can afford and actually like then its off to paint! Welcome You might as well dive in and start tapping into the knowledge on the site.

Post your brake questions in the brake section. Out of the 1000000000000000 Camaro builders here somebody will have and answer for you.

Need wheels? Just ask Ron he always has several sets on hand.

Post those photos. Just cut and past that IMG code from Photobucket into your post.

We have tried intervention virtually via this site but it hasn't done any good.

Now the stuff he buys is top shelf it's not budget stuff but I've heard he even has wheels sitting in other peoples garages due to space concerns.

Think Emelda Marcos in a Forgeline theme.

You need to sort that brake thing out first since caliper clearance plays a role in wheel choice. What size rotors are you trying to run? I think those Brembos were designed for a 13 or 14" rotor so you will probably need an 18" wheel to run them.

Are you tubbing your rear?

You should start a build thread.

Its funny that you mentioned his build, I stumbled upon his build yesterday. The dead pool camaro is for sure kick ass!! What does it take to get a cool name for your car is what I wanna know! I dont want to tub my car but I know I should, I just feel like I wont get the bang for my buck. Tubbing a car is very expensive. Yeah I have the stock rotors I think they are 13". If I can contact the guy from flynbye he suggested he could get slotted drilled rotors for the ss 2010 stuff that way I could use my stock hubs. Its a little frustrating because nobody seems to have competed this conversion yet so its hard to get info. I have seen them on a few cars like g bodys so I am sure I just need to remain patient. How do I do build thread Rob? Is my car even nice enough for that, I dont have a rendering or anything like that. Thanks for your help Rob, I will see what rims ron has available.

The build thread is easy. Just start your thread in that section of the forum.

Give a quick outline of your plan. Nobody should worry about if their car is "nice" enough for that. The point of the thread is to share your journey (pain ) in building your car.

Days when you are all amped about something you bought and everyone at work and home just looks at you You post it on your thread to share with your other crazy car building friends.

Reading others threads can help you chart your way through your build and some day maybe your thread will do the same for somebody.

Case in point is your brakes. You want to do something that others aren't regularly doing. If you work it all out someone like you with the same idea can look up your thread someday for the how to.

Now Ron does loves his wheels but if he has a set to sell you would have to tub your car for them to fit.

Ford came up with the name for my build

Jeez...I go off the grid for 30 hours and all of a sudden I turn into a dumpy asian lady with too many shoes?

Ghost, welcome to the forum. There's lots of great people here willing to help. Figure out your intended use, budget and then make a build plan that fits those goals.

Oh and we love pics here so figure out the pbucket links!

Welcome to Don't get sucked in by what everyone else is doing. Build it for your intended use. Besides...cars like these are never really done.
