Default TKO-600 Shifting Problems-leaks too

My TKO-600 has never wanted to shift quickly from 2nd to 3rd gear. Now I have a leak from the joint between the case and the tail housing. Looking for feedback on Liberty Gear. They offer several upgrades that are supposed to improve shifting and will go through the transmission but I'm looking at between $ 700 and $ 950 depending on what they find. Trans has 12,000 miles on it.

Does anyone have experience dealing with them. Do the mods they offer actually fix the shifting problems with the TKO?

Thanks

If you are trying to shift above 6k, sell it and buy a t56 mag or race trans depending on your ideals. I put carbon fiber synchros in mine along with brass shift pads, and a 5.0 shifter. While it sharpened it up, it still liked to miss shifts. I was running an aluminum flywheel and 666 hp with a redline of 6800. The aluminum flywheel made it a lot worse due to the rapid rpm increase. I found that it would shift decent under full traction but any loss of grip would make it miss shift easily. Top of 2nd gear is a good place to lose traction on a track from my experience.

My opinion is that you will be throwing good money after bad....

Here is how to fix the leak. I had to do this too.

Liberty can fix your 2-3 shift. I sent my shifting parts to them for modification to save some money on shipping. I had my trans worked on a Pro-motion Drivetrain with no results. Then I sent the parts to Liberty and it is fixed. I havent missed 3rd since.

If your problem is shifting above 6500, then that is a different deal. It has to do with the high inertia of the deavy gears and syncros. If that is the problem then you'll have to send it then for other internal mods.
