If you just need good block work or other engine machining, go to Contemporary Auto Machine, off of Gothard, just south of Edinger. The owner is Yo (short for Yosh!to), has been in biz since the late 60s, and I worked for him in the mid 90s and to this day when I am in the area I swing by and BS with him. Was just there back in Sept when I picked up a car load of stuff down the street at Classic Industries In fact, when I built my engine for my race car, he is who I trusted to do the block work I needed done - I didn't do it even tho' I had access to machines at Pacific (see next recommendation) - I had him do it because he just gets it right

He can build engines too but talking about ongoing block work, he is your guy IMHO. No price gouging either, honest pricing for solid work.

For race engine parts and overall race builds, my old boss and friend to this day as well in Anaheim is Troy at Pacific Performance. Hard to get on the phone at times, but that dude is amazing at picking combos. I learned so much when I worked for him - just has amazing power combos and again, solid pricing too.

Hope that helps - not trying to "get friends work", I honestly recommend these people because of my personal experiences with them and knowing they are solid people that produce a solid product for customers. And these are both businesses with decades of time open, so that should say something as well.

Pfaff - you are on your own there, mama says if I can't say anything nice...

I'd drive to Alaska for machine work. What's more important, convenience or quality?

I agree Todd, and he'll (Mark) will do what ever is nessacery to make sure the work is done to his standards. Mark is as meticulous with his engines as any great shop should b. He just dosen't have his own machines to do blocks and is a one man operation and cannot really close the shop to run around for a day.

Thanks for the heads up. I work across the street from them and my friend was planning on getting some heads cleaned up by them.
