So I REALLY want to run new ZL1 brakes on my 69 camaro build. I have the DSE subframe and the DSE 9inch rear. I am told the V brakes will bolt onto the subframe (same as ZL1), however I'm curious about the rotor to use. Maybe verification on that also if I have been told incorrect information about the caliper fitting the subframe.
I know for the rear I need a bracket made to run the caliper, that shouldn't be that hard. There is someone working on one on Pro-touring that I have seen linked on here.
Does anyone have experience with V/ZL1 brakes on a detroit speed frame? I just want to see if there is information out there before I buy a set of calipers and measure for the rotor.
Car will be done with the chassis work soon, and then it's off to paint. I'm hoping to get brakes and wheels/tires for the car for when it returns from paint. They're "next" on my list of modifications to the car.
You'll need to make a bracket for the front to fit the ZL1 brakes/5th Gen brakes. I haven't heard of anyone that makes this yet, but it would be nice to have the option to use new Camaro brakes as they're very reasonable in price and have lots of brake pad options as well.
So the calipers wont fit the subframe either? Man.
I was hoping Tobin would answer on here (thought he is a member). Currently overseas right now (due back soon so it can wait if no response from him). Really wanting to use them as they're an affordable alternative.
As I recall, from the posts over on PT the calipers will fit mounted to the spindles and rear end if you fab a correct bracket that centers the caliper over the rotor. Not sure if Tobin makes a bracket you can use.
Little digging around and I find that the ZL1 brakes are probably a no-go on the DSE sub. Not without work to make a bracket and finding a rotor that would work. Tobin@Kore3 and I have been chatting about options and possible alternatives.

Who has experience with what all brakes? I sent a message to One Lap Camaro owner as he had AP racing on that car. Been talking to Tobin about Wilwoods as they're a vendor.
Baer Extreme 6S works on the DSE subframe. I have that on my DSE subframe. Look in the parts classified, I think that I saw a set with the new Baer Floater kit.
