Not sure what's out there these days for tire machines. Do any shops have something that inverts the wheel and holds it by the hub?

Trying to avoid the marks from internal rim clamp and also the possibility of scratching the top painted surface of the wheel.

When I had my tires mounted, I went to the one place in town that I knew about which has a machine that locks down on the hub and doesn't touch the rim at all. It then has the arm that comes over and expands the sidewall enough to stretch over the rim lip. So there can be a few surface scratches on the rim lip to get the tire started, but nothing like the clamps will do...

So such a machine exists, but I do not remember the specific model of the machine...

Find a shop in your area that does a lot of custom type rims. Donks, 22's etc. see what they use and see what kind of technique they use.

Have you seen the Corghi Master 26? We literally just bought one and had it installed last Wednesday. As far as I know, it is the only tire changer in the world right now that does not actually touch the rim itself.

We'll have to write up a little story about our new machine. But in the meantime, here is the demo video:

We use a hunter auto34 and I've personally done 100's of tires on this machine from 13" - 28" and even bead lock and H1 wheels, and I have yet to make a mark on a wheel. (Knock on wood). It holds the wheel threw the center hub, so no paw marks. We needed this machine for gm's plastic clad wheels that were released a few years ago and I guys were destroying em with a conventional machine.
