My name is Jeff Weidner and I am a senior level (finally!) mechanical engineering student at California State University, Fullerton. I know as of recently I haven't been as active on this forum as I have in the past simply due to time limitations from school. My 1970 nova has unfortunately taken a back seat to my studies but I'm happy to say the minute I graduate, i look forward to dumping copious amounts of blood, sweat, and tears back into it.

With that being said, I want to open this post with a HUGE thank you to those of you who contributed to California State University Fullerton's Formula SAE program last year when I posted a thread like this. It is still very much appreciated and we could not have done it without your support. However,the time is upon us once again where we are trying to garner as much support for our team as we can. Our car last year turned out great, though it seemed that Murphy's Law thought it appropriate to rear its ugly head. Shortly after completion and mere days before leaving for our competition in Lincoln, NE, during a test run, one of our team members lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall. As unfortunate as that event was, the true testament of engineering and safety was seen as he came out of the accident unscathed. Two nights before competition the team banded together and rebuilt the battered car in time to make the competition. As luck would have it, in the haste to rebuild the car, the wrong hardware was used to attach the sprocket to the differential and during a practice run in Lincoln, NE the bolts sheared causing the car to fail the tech inspection. While we were not able to compete in the dynamic events, we did well in the static events such as the business presentation and design review.

Nevertheless, we are a team of individuals with heart and the utmost dedication. The car is currently undergoing a redesign to optimize what was done last year and we couldn't be happier with the designs thus far. However, with such ambitious designs, aspirations, and imagination, comes our one limiting factor--finances. We are currently in the beginning stages of gathering support and sponsors of any kind, be it monetary or in-kind donations such as raw material, or manufacturing. So I'm writing this to ask if anybody is interested in helping out a great program and a great school. I couldn't be more proud of the people I'm both leading on my team, the engine team, as well as the rest of my colleagues working on the suspension, chassis and other components. It would be with the utmost gratitude if anybody here interested in donating could let me know either on this forum or through my email [email protected]. Jeff Congratulations on getting to that point in your BSME. I am going to start my BSME at San Diego state soon when I get back and get things settled. I just have to get this math down!. I have heard of programs like this at schools. I will copy and post your link and information to those out there that I think may be willing to help. I hope you guys are able to match what you came up with last year and beat it hopefully!

Thank you so much! The more exposure the better which is why I posted this up here. And thanks for the kind words. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel in terms of graduation. Smart move going for your BSME as well. I wish I could tell you it's going to be easy, but it's not. However, it has been the most rewarding thing I have done thus far. The car is awesome too being that it applies all the book learning you've done/are going to do. So get through that math and keep on goin! Don't let the math deter you, once you get passed it, you'll be ok. Thanks again for the help, Shep and good luck to you and getting your BSME!
