Question Daily Driver Lincoln LS?

I am thinking of cutting the rice (yes I drive a honda) out of my daily driver diet and am seriously considering a car I drove today at a big multi dealer expo.

I had the pleasure of test driving a 2003 Lincoln LS with Low Miles during lunch. The sales guy was an older guy that allowed me to abuse it slightly and to get as fast as I would dare in the big mall parking lot in the back where there werent any cars.

Stuff I liked:

Nice power (280 HP V8). I stomped it and it felt great.
Handles well - Independent front and rear suspension, Rear Wheel Drive. I drove it in a tight circle and hit a 90 degree curve at near 50 MPH. Surprisingly agile.

Has anyone out there had any long term experiences with these cars? I put about 90 miles round trip with my current job and really would enjoy this car. I will not enjoy it however if it ends up being a repair hog.

Thoughts? Comments?

Thanks Guys

My parents had an LSE. Fun to drive. Nice comfort, no mechanical issues the whole time they owned it....

A friend of mine has one and loves it. He knows all the in's and out's of these cars. Go to www.tamparacing.com then go to Ford forum and ask about Lincoln LS, he name is Scott.

I think the LS are great looking cars. My fiance's father ownded a Ford/merc/lincoln dealership and from what I have heard from him they are well rounded cars. Your gonna be using a bit more fuel with that Lincoln than that Honda.

I agree they are great looking cars, and if gas is a factor, go test drive a V6 model and see how that feels. Althought I fear now that you have tested the V8, you wont want anything less!

That is kinda what I was thinking Jim. The wheels it currently has are the Chromed out factory rims so I might can even live with those for a little while.

I am still trying to get over the handling of that car. I knew it had a V8 but never expected it to drive that well. In High School I had a 1988 Firebird formula. I dont recall it having that kinda power and handling.

As you can tell I really kinda want it.

Thanks for all the input Guys. Gonna crunch the numbers and see what I can do. Even if this one passes me by, I will know what to look for in the used market.

I also like the LS's, they are a little on the heavy side and I wouldn't mind a larger motor either (though you can always slap on a supercharger), but I still like their looks .

There is lots of info (all sorts) on http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/ .

Default Same car as the Jag

Both the Jag and the LS use the same platform. Father-in-law had the LS, nice ride with no problems
