I've seen 9:1 boxes in Cup cars, but never in a street car. I would think it would be twitchy, to say the least.

I'm running a Lee 12:1 box with a Momo 12.8" Montecarlo wheel and I'd agree with them. If it was a track only car 9:1 would be great but with the condition of modern day roads I think it would be annoying.

What diameter of wheel are you running?

I run 8:1 manual steering in my falcon and I love it. I just added power steering and neither were twitchy and great on the track. I run a little toe out which can pick up the expansion grooves on the freeway.

I had and 442 G-body With a Stock 12.7:1 , 2.5 turns Lock to Lock, I think that was brilliant! You only cross hands once With that (usually), I Guess you cant cross them more than once anyway though.. HeHe

I have a Sweet 12:1 in my Pontiac and it also is good for me.

But if you run With toe-in, maybe you want to add less toe-in? Or maybe run With toe-out, that can quicken the steering response vey much, so you get a much quicker turn in. It does not change the steering ratio, but it can dramatically change how the car steers and feels. And if maybe Your problem is too much understeering, so you oversteer on the Wheel more than you optimally would need? If that makes any sense?

If you have not, I would try to change that first. It sure can change alot, if you have not already tried of course..
