Default What's up Mcmaster-carr??!!

Hello

I was trying to order a set of allen type screw caps for the inner fenders of my 68 camaro in order to obtain more clearance between the tire and the lower back fender. So i found the part number posted by one of the members here and placed the order

The payment method was via a credit card. I was surprised they did not ask for the billing address. So i emailed them the billing address to avoid any processing delays. Withen 15 min I received an email back stating no need for the billing address as the payment was via credit card.

I live overseas and have Aramex account, which I use sometimes to forward orders to and orders will be sent to me to my home address.

Later on I received another email asking about the final destination the order will be sent to as well as the purpose for ordering the screws and the end user.

So answered all the questions and today received a response back stating they accept orders only from established customers.

So what are the criteria for being an established customer??!!
I only want allen type screws!!!

Wow! I had an order shipped by them, my credit union shut down my CC I used and they requested and recieved the updates. It was a $300 order, they have always been quick to respond even after this incident to me about shipments and unlike other nut/bolt supply houses seem to have a very reliable inventory status of hardware in stock. I remember once going to my local Ace hardware to buy 5 metric bellhousing bolts for a project, I couldn't stomach paying 3.68 a fastener for cheap junk Chinese made 8.8 grade fasteners. McMaster Carr delivered 2 days later 10.8 fasteners far better quality for 1/2 the price. They have always been one of my preferred sources along with Speedway Motors.

Strange, because when I first ordered they insisted that they send it to me on open account, even when I tried to put cc info in. Been that way ever since. Being out of the country could easily make a difference.

The only thing I don't like is they dropped the 1 day standard shipping from Socal to Norcal, and stick it on UPS now, which is 2-3 days.

I placed an order today and 7 items were refused.....so now I need a new supplier for Slotted Wood Screws!!!

"The Canadian government imposes a 170% anti-dumping duty on the wood screws you ordered from us (originally your lines 5-12). We removed those screws from your order due to the inflated cost to export them to you. If you still want to purchase these screws, please provide us with your UPS or FedEx collect number. We will ship the screws to you, and you will be responsible for the applicable duties as the importer of record."

Normally we just send to a us mail box, but they won't allow that!!!!

I do not know about all CC processors but allot of them do not require a billing address, I know mine does not.

What I do know is Mcmaster has the best, most usable website I have ever seen. Considering they stock 10s of thousands of part #s, yet you can find what your looking for in seconds is impressive to me. I think the government could learn a thing or two from whoever built McMaster . com. Oh wait McMaster Carr is one of those big bad corporations designed to make a profit, never mind

Another thing that is impressive is I have ordered hundreds of times and not once has my order been delivered wrong or delayed. I am a big fan!!!

This is the first I have experienced this. I have delt with some companies only once, and the orders were processed smoothly without any hassles.

Now I have to look for another supplier to get the allen type bolts

Jody I order stuff from McMaster frequently and usually it arrives from SoCal warehouse to Livermore or Tracy the next day. I have noticed they are using OnTrac as their carrier more and more often as opposed to UPS.

Hopefully they change for me. I called to see if I could request OnTrac and they said no, as far as normal ground shipping. I could pay for next day, but I used to always get next day at normal ground rates.
