Default The New Forgeline One Piece Forged Monoblock GT1 5-Lug Wheel

Last November (2013), we introduced the one piece forged monoblock GT1 wheel, at SEMA. The GT1 (itself based on the new GTD1 IMSA racing wheel) was a Porsche-specific wheel designed from the start as a center locking fitment only. And because it was designed as a center lock, there was no lug circle, so the spokes were extra long (continuing past what would normally be the lug area), resulting in a very unique look (plus some very impressive numbers for mass, fatigue strength, and deflection stiffness).

Not surprisingly people love the look. And since then, we've received constant requests to make a 5-lug version of this same wheel. But the original GT1 was designed from the start for center locking applications only, so there was no place to locate the lug holes. And if we just plopped the lug holes into the center of the wheel, then we would end up shortening the spoke lengths, which would have changed what people liked about it in the first place.

So our challenge was to design a wheel with a 5-lug attachment that still preserved the extra-long spokes of the original GT1. It was not an easy task, but our engineering team eventually came up with an innovative solution: They designed a 10-spoke version of the wheel with a "hidden" lug circle that sits behind the spoke faces. This left the long spokes undisturbed and allowed the lug holes to virtually disappear. Hence the look of the GT1 but with a 5-lug fitment.

So here it is. The new one piece forged monoblock GT1 5-Lug. Machined from a single forging of 6061-T6 aluminum, it is currently available in 18, 19, 20, and 21-inch diameters with the usual fully customizable finish options. Please find sizes and pricing at: http://www.forgeline.com/products/on...gt1-5-lug.html

What do these costs as opposed to a 3 PC wheel? Do you have any fitment for a 05 mustang?

As one might expect, this wheel is a little more expensive than the Concave Series 3 piece wheels. (It takes A LOT more machine time and produces A LOT more aluminum scrap.) In fact, this wheel is $75 more than our other one piece forged monoblock wheels. You can find sizes and pricing at: http://www.forgeline.com/products/on...g&pricing=1#q2

Like all of our wheels, these are custom made-to-order. So we will be able to accommodate a wide range of fitments. But we're still crunching the numbers on our offset ranges. So call me or email me tomorrow, and I'll talk to the engineering team about the S197 fitments.
