Hello, i am new to the site, i am currently working on a 1969 mustang fastback. I am wanting to go pro touring with this car, but i need someone to tell me what is needed for the car to be able to bare the name of "Pro Touring." My car is at the right stage in its build to be modified to fit the bill. It has had all the sheet metal work done and is setting in primer, and is now ready for suspension. I am doing all the work myself, and am open to ideas.
The Motor for the car will be an aluminum headed 396 windsor with a 5 speed, if that makes any difference.
Good to see another mustanger. Whatcha got in mind for the suspension? So far I think i'm going to be going with the Griggs GR-350 setup. Expensive, but the best for my pro-touring purposes.
I have not made any choices on the suspension yet, I have subframed the car, but aside from that everything else is striped. I am not planning on cutting up the shock towers or anything on this car, that doesn't mean it won't happen. I am tring to get the car mounted on my frame bench to mock up the ride height and see how mush modifing i have to do to get an 18 x 9 in the front and a 18 x 10 in the back. I would like the back tire level with the wheel well opening, and the front about an 3/4 to an 1 inch lower for that tuff ready to pounce look. I will post some pics so that will help alot.
