Hey guys, I have a 68 camaro that will be running the complete ridetech front suspension with tru -turn. I have read that using a 67 idler arm will help with header clearance since it is a longer arm can any one confirm that. Are there any issues using a 67 idler on a 68.
Thanks
If you are using a complete RideTech package, then I would definitely call RideTech, or maybe Brett (?) will chime in with some professional/technical/expert advice.
The 67 Idler arm is the longer of the 2 but, the 68-69 idler is easier to get. The Idler Arm is mounted on the frame at and angle so, it will move it down and forward at the same time and ,typically, its not enough to clear a header that might be hitting. Do you have your headers for your car already? If so, what engine and what headers?
Yes I can confirm the longer idler didnt really help header clearance. I tested both but ended up running the 67 because I figured at least both arms were the same length that way.
I think I am going to run the mid lenght hooker headers, to avoid having issues. I have the rest of the hooker LS swap kit so maybe the mid lenght headers will clear just fine. Or I might look into the ultamite headers. It sounds like i should just stick with the cheaper 68 idler arm.
