Default Picking a final color is going to give me a stroke!!

I've been debating the final color on my 70 Cuda for a LONG frickin time...must have changed my mind a million times....but its getting to crunch time where its time to shoot color...and I'm struggling to pick. There are so many colors out there that would look bad ass

My theme has always been to be low and mean and still play some tribute to the classic Mopar look. The engine bay will be more raw aluminum and satin paint....my rims are Rushforth rated X with a polished hoop and brushed center (looking back I wish I had done a brushed hoop, but I bought these along time ago and cant afford to eat the cost and buy new rims)..no they aren't really green...

My leading choice is the purple...but never in my life did I think I would be owning a huge purple car...its a bold color choice...not many out there...and it is a Mopar.. the upper right is Plum Crazy which is very washed out and plain compared to the custom purples my painter has come up with

The one I keep going back to is the Ford Ruby Red, which is the one my son wants...doesn't look that great in the pix but you see it on a lot of Ford cars right now. Its more candy apple red..

At SEMA, I loved the color of JF's Acadian.... its more copper orange..

My plan is to do some form of stripe or graphic...nothing fancy or really bold...probably in some form of satin color...at the same time trying to tie in with the wheels

Ben Hermance is going to help me come up with a graphic.... I'm not that artistic...

I'm trying super hard to not look at other colors and make it even harder to choose.....NO BLACK.... had considered a gray/silver...but trying hard to at least narrow it down to 2 colors...

Dang....color is such a personal thing. You said low and mean. That is my goal also for my PT challenger and I'm most likely going black with satin black accents. I know you said no black. Black just pours out mean. That said I like the red or the middle purple. I've owned four red cars. Personally I think purple mopars are over done but perhaps custom and not "plum crazy" it may be awesome especially for a PT type custom. Someone on this site did theirs in House of Kolor Burple which looked very very good. Loved it.

Tough choice only you can make. I've watched and loved your build. Looking forward to seeing it in color whatever it is. (Black.......would look awesome, low and mean) .....,just saying !!!!

When is it going in for paint?

Side note. You might be able to put the satin finish in the outer hoops of your wheels. I have FIKSE wheels with polished outers and black spokes. Researching this a lot of guys disassemble them and basically do a scotch brite with WD40. Not sure on longevity or oxidation though.

Wes

Default Hi.

Hi, I know all too well what you're going through having just been through the same thing myself recently. I just looked at every car I saw on the road or on the net, I found something I really liked, changed my mind a thousand times and in the end went with my original choice. Drove my painter damn near crazy along the way, but it looks perfect. It's such a personal choice, but you'll see something that jumps out at you, just go with it when you do. Cheers Trevor.

This is one of the toughest decisions to make on a build. I'm not even close and I'm thinking about it already. I agree you know when you see it.

Paint is just like wheels and can drive you nuts. All of us daydream about our cars, what color do you see?? As mentioned above, you will keep coming back to one color so go with it and you will be happy. I spent a year looking at every wheel on the planet then bought my original choice. ( not the ones in the pics, lol)

For the look you want I would think about a charcoal metallic like one of the late model factory colors. Then your mat black accents/stripes.

I would absolutely stay away from a "custom" color. There are so many great factory colors to chose from and it will make your life easier.

Go to car lot and take a look. Seeing the entire cars painted is way better then trying to decide off small sample panels.

My second choice would be to stay with original period correct color and accent stripes.

If you want purple then go with it. Don't worry that it's been "over done" it looks good and that's why people use it.

Your car with its stance and wheels will stand out against the rest of the crowd.

X2. Definitely go to car lots and check colors. BMW has a very nice grey and VW has some nice colors also.

charcoal grey - matte black accents?

Do you like any of the factory colors coming out of dodge? Anything off the Viper?

I've been to tons of car lots and been keeping my eyes open for cars on the street for the last 1-2 years... and that's probably why I've changed my mind like a million times...believe me, I've been looking

I've considered the charcoal gray also....lots of those cars out there too

Love black... just don't want to deal with keeping it clean, swirl marks etc...I have always vowed not to have a black car... just cant do it...

Not going a factory color has me worried too....concerned for future touch ups etc
