Default Vapor Lock??? 1969 Camaro LQ9

Today I was driving down the road in my Flat black 69 camaro. Hot as hell outside. No ac. I had about 1/4 of a tank of fuel left in my car. All of a sudden I while I was driving the car started to stall and just ended up dying. Pulled over and called the wife to bring me gas. Thinking that was the problem. I waited there about 15 min before she showed up. Put gas in the car and drove to the gas station to top her off. Filled up the car and tried to drive away. Well car wouldn't start. Had to push her off to the side. Bought a bag of ice and laid it on the intake. After about 20 min of waiting she started right up. Left the bad of ice there and just drove it home.

Does this sound like Vapor lock? Ive never had the issue before but I have yet to drive the car in the summer. So possibly. Would getting a new tank with a electronic pump solve my issue. I have a stock tank with mechanical sending unit.

I will try and reroute my fuel lines to see if that is the issue.

Thanks, Ray

What type of fuel system do you have now? Stock style tank with external pump? Are you running a corvette style filter/regulator?

1969 Camaros had a vented gas cap stock. Also you put a thick gasket ,and or heat shield under the carb.

If you are running FI I didn't think it was possible to vapor lock.

If you are running carb you certainly could.
