Default Stewart Warner vs. Autometer

Hey guys,

I'm looking at some gauges for my 67 camaro and i'm about to order a tach and speedo within the next day or two. I'm just wondering if you guys with experience think the SW gauges are worth the extra money over autometer? For the five inch tach and speedo its gonna run me about 70 bucks more, looks are a toss up, both look great.

Also about the LED system, is that something you have to order separate? I want to run blue backlighting, does anyone know if all the SW guages are glow through?

Thanks,

Derek

The best thing I found was the huge selection of sizes and styles with the SW line. The best comparison that Autometer has is their new Sport Comp II line. These have the glow through numerals like the SW stuff. However the SW line (I'm running the black, the silver also has the glow through but the white doesn't) had way more variety. Especially in the 2 5/8-inch size I wanted to run. About the only thing they lacked was a clock.

Thier LED system is sold seperatly, but is very well engineered. There are two models of LEDs for large (4 LED) and small (2 LED) guages. This way they are illuminated the same. They install in seconds and are very bright. This combined with the glow through and perimeter ring makes for a very nice looking guage in the dark.

I really like the Autometer stuff and it has always served me well. In this case I found the SW offerings to be better for my application.

Silver would be good. White's the one that doesn't "glow through" double check with SW though.

They also have a Chameleon system where you can change the color of your lights as you wish, but I bet it's sorta pricey.
