Projects at our Prodigy Customs Shop.
Well, the shop is buried with killer projects right now. Here's a quick list and you can see pics at:

Lisa’s EmptyNest 69 Firebird Convertible
So we started on Lisa’s SEMA project EnptyNest and found some surprises, lot’s of rust! There are some great action shots of Lisa getting dirty as she is doing a lot of this car with Michael and I. Lisa is a girly girl, but I give her a lot of credit for getting right in there. They made short work of the new full floor and cowl, and are working on the fully smooth firewall as we speak. We got some really exciting news as All Pontiac (
www.allpontiac.com and Jim Butler Performance (
www.jbp-pontiac.com) have teamed up to build a killer 535CI / 800HP ALL ALUMINUM monster, toped with a custom Wilson (
www.wilsonmanifolds.com) sheetmetal tuned port style intake and a fogger system for good measure. We cannot believe our good fortune. To have Jim Butler build your Pontiac is like having Grumpy Jenkins build your Chevrolet. With the nitrous this puppy will easily make 1000HP on pump gas! Moser (
www.Moserengineering.com) has stepped up and is supplying a killer bullet proof Moser 60 complete with a 33 spline Tru Track differential and 3.73 gears. One of our own TKO 600 kits will transfer the power from motor to the tires. And speaking of wheels and tires. My boys at Forgeline (
www.Forgeline.com) stepped up to build the custom one of a kind 3 piece Snowflake wheels for the project. We could not be more proud to be aligned with Forgeline, the best wheels anywhere. Staying faithful to the industries best brakes, we are thrilled Wilwood (
www.Wilwood.com) is supplying the 14” 6 piston front / 14” 4 piston rear brake set up, complete with polish calipers to shine through the custom wheels. Look for constant updates on this project, and watch it come together before your eyes.
Bruce’s 1967 Chevelle's SS 396, 572CI Pro Touring Conversion
Were just finishing this beautiful 1967 Chevelle's SS that belongs to a loyal customer of 18 years. Bruce and I did our first work together when I helped him with his 985 point 69 Z28, and his 978 point 69 396 / 375 Camaro’s back in 1989 when we were both a lot younger. Bruce brought me this Chevelle in pretty good shape. The car was basically a restored SS396 car with a wrong motor, 4 speed, and a 4 wheel factory style disc conversion. We pulled the motor, transmission and rear and replaced them with a ALL ALUMINUM 572 CI Bill Mitchell motor making 751HP and 704 TQ. Backed with a TKO 600 and a Moser 12 bolt 33 spline Tru Track rear. Let me tell you, it is anything but a bolt in squeezing that 572 in there. The long stroke and increased deck height makes for a very tight fit requiring extensive oil pan modification, frame notching, etc to make it fit. Combined with a complete Hotchkis TVS kit, ATS / Lee steering box, And tubular upper and lower arms, this Chevelle's is a sweetheart of a driver that will cruise anywhere, and is capable of kicking much ass.
Roberts 1957 Chevy 283 Power pack / 572CI Pro Touring Conversion.
Not to be out done by his brother in law Bruce. When Robert took a ride in Bruce’s Chevelle, He pulled his restored 57 Chevy in the shop for the same treatment. This one I am going to hell for according to the restoration guys, LOL! This car just scored 975 at Classic Chevy Internationals National Convention in February of this year in the original restored class. This car came to us on Gangster Whitewalls, 283 Power pack motor with 2 X 4 barrels, overdrive 3 speed. All that original drivetrain is on the floor and the new ALL ALUMINUM 572CI Bill Mitchell motor, just like Bruce’s, and TKO 600 are in and ready to fire up today. Along with the monster 758HP beast, a Moser 33 spline 12 bolt went in, along with a coil over rear suspension conversion with everything moved inboard so we could fit 315 drag radials under it on 17” TT2s. Up front we did a rack and pinion conversion, along with tubular upper and lower arms, and a QA1 coil over conversion. We also added a Gen IV Vintage Air and IDidIt Column for a little more comfort inside.
Robert is one cool cat and told me yesterday he was not paying the final bill until I made a few passes at the dragstrip with this badd ass 57 when it is finished. He is a little bit nervous to do it himself, but wants to see it go! OK, I admit it, I LOVE MY JOB! We will make some half track passes until I get used to launching it and then make one Hale Mary pass. And then they throw us out for going to fast! I’ve been thrown out of nicer places!
Tom’s Awesome 1968 427CI SB2 Camaro Convertible
Tom is a good friend and business acquaintance of mine. Tom dropped off his killer 68 Camaro convertible for us to do the Prodigy Magic on. An awesome 427CI SB2 (Nascar headed) small block is the heart and sole of this one. A custom Wilson intake and Fuel injection set up feed the beast controlled with a Accel DFI set up. Backed with a TKO600 into a Moser 33 spline 12 bolt with 3.73 cogs, this thing is going to be all business! Built with both Street / Race and Pro Touring influences, the little (little, HA) SB2 Camaro should rock the house. Tom WILL race this thing and is looking for 10 second ET slips! We are in the process of finish painting the car, changing a few things, adding a Prodigy roll bar, a sound system and a custom interior. Look for Tom’s Camaro to be prowling the street of East Brunswick very soon
Nathan’s 1969 Camaro Convertible
Nathan’s car is a bit of a rescue. Nathan is the nicest guy anyone could ever know, and he was getting screwed by a shop in Destin, Florida. Nathan is in the Air Force, and we have a little extra in our hearts for the guys that protect our country. So we are kind of jamming his car into our rotation, but we will get some special satisfaction from this one. We are working it into our production to make his dream finally come true . The 69 Camaro convertible is getting the Pro Touring treatment including a LS2 / 6 speed. A Hotchkis TVS kit, Big brakes, 4th generation seats. Look for some big moves on this car in the next few weeks.
Jose’s 1968 Camaro coupe
Jose comes to us from Miami with this 68 couple Camaro. Jose owns some killer cars already including a 900HP C5 ZO6 and a twin turbo 06 ZO6. So this thing will have to be brutal. Jose’s car is getting one of World products new Warhawk blocks built to 440CI with their LS7 style heads. A one off Wilson intake will feed the beast. Horsepower projections are in the 700HP naturally aspirated range. Backed with a TKO600, Moser 12 bolt, Fatman Subframe, Chris Alston G bar, 14” Wilwood brakes, this thing will have all the Pro Touring requirements and then some
Andrew’s One Owner LOADED 1970 GTO convertible
Andrews grandfather bought this killer super loaded 1970 GTO convertible brand new. Andrews Father drove the car in high school and made out in the back seat. Andrew has wanted this thing as long as he can remember. Andrews dad and he are doing this dream project together. Their dream turned into a nightmare as the car ended up in body shop hell for the better part of a year, so we rescued the project for them and are doing the body and paint work. They have the frame ready to go and it looks fantastic. The car is loaded with options like 455, A/C, power Top, Power windows, and its original red! They have done a few mild bolt on Pro touring mods like Wilwood brakes and Hotchkis suspension, march pulleys, etc. but for the most part this family airlome needs to stay close to the way it has always been remembered, as grandpa’s cool car!
Mike’s 1984 Camaro Z28 Street / Racer
Mike 84 Camaro is going to be a badd puppy! Were building a ProCharged F1R feed 383CI motor, backed by a TCI Powerglide, into a 9” rear. We are looking for high 8 second ETs in the 148 range from a true pump gas street cruiser. It’s kind of fun to do another street racer as I still love drag cars. We will get some video when we get her out. This is another one I will be “forced” to performance test! It’s a rough job but someone has to do it!
Patrick’s Awesome 68 Camaro coupe
Patrick owns one of the few local cars we do. Most of our stuff comes in from out of state, or out of town. Patrick is my insurance agent and insures about every body shop in the state. We are proud that he selected prodigy Customs to do the paint and body on his cool Camaro. Powered by a Kenny bell blown LS1, backed with a Tremec 6 speed and a 9” rear, Patrick’s car is going to be a power full Pro Touring car. And with 13” brakes wrapped with 315 X 18 rubber, it is going to have plenty of turning and stopping ability. Going a gorgeous silver with red interior, we expect this one to be a stunner.
We have a project for sale
Marks 1968 Camaro Coupe
Mark’s 68 Camaro is receiving a full sheetmetal treatment and body work. It is kind of funny, mark got pretty deep into this project before he realized he really wants a 69 Camaro. So this mini tubbed, Art Morrison chassis, G bar rear, 68 Coupe is available for sale, complete with a spot in our shop for completion. So anyone interested can avoid our 1 year waiting list and get a finished prodigy built car in just a few months. In other words, the buyer of this car gets marks slot in the shop. Pricing is up in the air depending on what is included, you should call to discuss your needs. In the meantime Mark and I are already on the hunt for a 69 project car and putting together a plan for possibly SEMA 2008
Whew! My fingers are sore. In closing, thanks again for being members, and tell your friends. And if there is a new product you want, be sure to use the wanted GP section!
Thanks,
Frank, Lisa, Michael and Dave Serafine
