Default LT1 woes again

Car runs like crap. Rich with black smoke. Replaced the Opti and it runs the same. No trouble codes reported.

It runs OK when first started, but get worse as it warms up. If no trouble codes are present indicating a sensor problem, what else could it be?!?

This motor is cursed. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. -e

could be a temp sensor reading cold.. that way when the engine heated up it would grow richer.. i mean if the reading was wrong, but not in fault teritory the engine would just run rich... ive had a simmillar problem on mine btw.. but that wasd from an o2 sensor that was wired wrong... so if you have no misses (introducing o2 in the exhaust), and correct sensor hookup, then my money is on the IAT or ET sensor

One of your o2's are bad, its running great when its cold b/c its still in open loop(not using o2's). As soon as the car gets warms and the computer wants to go into closed loop and use the o2's its getting improper inforamtion and making the car run like crap. Im surprised it hasnt thrown a code for it but I assure you thats what it is. Good luck

Replaced the ECT sensor and it runs the same. Any other ideas? Anyone?

I will do the O2 sensors next I guess. Sensor roulette it is!

One time when I replaced the opti on my LT1 I managed to get the ditributor drive gear in the hole a tooth off. You wouldn't think it could go in, but it did. I took it apart and put it back together being very careful to insert the distributor drive gear in its proper orientation. Everything ran fine after that.

Pretty sure that isn't the problem here. The car ran the exact same with the old Opti. Plus it would always run crappy instead of getting worse as it warms up.

I will do the O2 sensors next weekend and go from there. After that there isn't much more it could be....

There was a reason you went to an LS2 huh?
