Well,

After many weeks of debating, i finally sold everything i had bought for my car last night, i'm going back to Pro Street! I'm ordering some 15x4 w/28" front and 15x12 w/30x13.5's and a 500+ BB (540, 565, 572) is searched for. I have tried to convince myself that pro touring is for me for the last 3 car builds and have ended up selling up the cars because it gets to a point in the builds where my interest is so low i feel like giving up. This car, i LOVE and i don't want to let go, so it will become a triple black, caged, Bad ass Street /Strip car soon. (Show quality street/ race car)

I have a friend building a 69 Camaro too and he has been following my footsteps all along so i was lucky he wanted all i have bought so far and ended up selling him everything but my air bar (thats for sale in the FS section) so i will be able to turn around right away!

I love Pro touring too, but i realized i just prefer the Tough/ Musclecar look and 0-150 kick. I'll still hang around tough as you guy's are great.

I come from a BIG drag racing background.
As a matter of fact I spend every Sunday at the track with my father who at 64 still drives a 9.30 camaro.
I originally started out building show quality 4x4's. They started getting unsafe when I started putting 500hp engines into them. I naturally progressed into the Pro-Street scene and eventually found my niche building hybrid or cross-over type Pro-Touring / Pro Street cars. I would say 90% of the cars we build are of that nature. They have the protouring stance and feel in regards to road performance capability but with the prostreet attitude of a bad ass engine and fat tire. Some with cages some not. Some with air ride and some without.
To each his own.... it’s your car, you need to be happy and enjoy it.
Try looking into crossover cars and maybe you'll find a happy medium!

no problem here, I love the drag cars also. I can appreciate the sheer acceleration, and the fact they don't turn so well never seemed to lessen their appeal to me.

I've actually looked into doing a 10" tire car for the next project.

It all started when i realized i could not put on 15" Slicks on my car because of the 14 and 13" brakes....I know, i know, i could put on 17's but it don't look right to me sooooo.

The car will still be made in 2007 still so it will get the best of everything, its just i dig the look of Pro Street a little more i guess. I'm just not gonna be looking for the last ounce of G performance. I like the Hybrid term tough...

You know, you are making me think about the air ride...I'm just nor sure it is ideal to Drag race is it? (I'm looking for ±650 horses + spray). From your Hybrid comments, i understand you have experience with launching a car on air? If its solid enough to handle the punch i'd be more than happy to keep it! I just don't want to break it and am unsure about the geometry being ideal???

(It would be very nice to keep it, no lost of money and ready to get the front done! Pressure adjustable on each side etc) I had talked with someone at air ride (i wont mention) and he said it may not be the best orientation... Real life talks!

And you know, i had even told my friend i was thinking of staying LSx and TT if he didn't want the motor and related stuff. It really is a wheel tire thing that got this rolling. Those 12" wilwoods will still let me run 20"'s later if i decide to. The other way around was a 'no, can't be done and it got me slowing down.

I will mention that the green 64 Impala broke the rear right shockwave. I can also mention that the owner drives that car very hard. But I can not tell you when it broke. I dont know if it was a hard launch or having too much pressure in the bag or a combo of both. I can tell you that it snapped the inner shaft in two and crushed the heck out of the valving. But the rubber never failed ! Whether or not its for a fulltime drag car is still yet to be determined. But when set-up correctly I can assure its okay in a 510hp, 4400lbs car.

Your just getting me to wonder if i should not try it instead of losing cash.

Its not going to be a trailer only racer (hey, its a 'vert) but rather a solid street car with a few times a year at the dragstrip and some stoplight action.

Edit; What kinda tire we're you running? I suppose if it hooks would be the difference here. And it will!

you gonna 4 link the rear with a panhard bar. i use my 68 mustang to autocross and drag racing with a change of the suspension set up and my slicks.nothing like leting go of the trans brake and seeing sky tell you shift to 2nd huh.are you going small block or big block what tranny and what rear end.

Congrats on the change, Im building a pro street aswell and love the pro stock look and feel to my rides look but with you being a pro touring fan of sorts now adays you can have your cake and eat it too with the new mickey thompson tires i condsidered them myself the pro street width with 18-20 rims.
Personally not for me simply because the only make a few wheels this big and not to mention each wheel is over 3K each but its an option
I have seen them and personally i think they look like a muscle machines diecast lol ecs with the 20's on them i like the big tire and profile look and cant wait to see your progress good luck
Also any one see the new Billet specialties wheels just out there SFI approved and real light and not bad priced either im ordering them for mine, later George

The car already has full tubs (to the frame) and a serious notch in the frame. I was either going to look at Cal trac leafs and bars or a ladder bar syst. I would prefer the Cal, but space will tell (leaf to tire clearance!). I was able to fit 31x14.5's on my 67 with same notch and tubs + offset hangers and the car was very low, so if i can do that i will. But if i that 4 link (airbar) works out, its aleady there....And paid for! So it could stay, nice thing is i don't have to cut my gas tank on top of things.

I already have a 12 bolt, looking for a 400 core and Big block THAT is for sure!
(Can already hear those 2 chamber flow's!!!)
