Default Post #1 70 TA clone

Hi my name is John and I'm a car addict. I do almost all my own work with very little being done by anyone else. I've been working on this car since the early 90's and didn't really think of it as a G machine until Johnny Hunkins called it one when He picked it as Editors Choice at a NMCA race in Florida and wanted to do a photoshoot for PHR.

I use it for Street, drags, Road courses, Maxton (ECTA) and plan on some unlimited speed open road races eventually like the Silver State Classic. I have a couple different sets of wheels and tires as well as a few rear ends I swap in and out depending on the type of driving I'll be doing.

I've been checking out this site for a while but couldn't post due to technical difficulties.

Thanks guys! Here's the specs as well as I can remember them(been working on it at least 15 years).

Suspension & chassis
Hotchkis= Springs,Swaybars,offset upper control arm shaft,Bilstein shocks

Global West= Del-A-Lum bushings

Energy Suspension= Poly body mounts

Bolt in sub frame connectors

Moog and Spicer steering and front end parts

Stock Disc/drum brakes still with Raybestos rotors and Raybestos semi metalic Heavy Duty pads/shoes Ford DOT 3 heavy duty brake fluid (changed for every road track event) I think the Line Lock was a Hurst unit

I have 3 different 10 bolt rears,2.72 BOP(stock open) good for trips, 3.73 Chevy 8.2 with tightly sprung posi unit (drag use) and a 2.41 (corporate) posi with moser housings and tapered axles alloy cover etc for long road tracks, top speed events, and open road

Wheels and tires
Centerlines with 3.5's up front with Mickey Thompson ET Streets and Mickeys up front
Custom backspacing ARE TT II's 17 X 9.5 and 17 X 11 with Yokohama AO 32's 315 35's and 275 40's no body mods at all to get the 315's in without rubbing, fronts just touch the swaybar at full lock

Body
I did the bodywork and then painted it in my dirt driveway. It's not perfect but it still looks pretty good after 15 years or more. Orig TA body parts from about 10 different cars used to turn the original Esprit into the look it has today. The only aftermarket part is the center section of the front spoiler. Almost no part hasn't been modified in some manner. I need to modify the induction a little as it pushes the hood scoop into the hood even without the gasket and pushes the hood up a little throwing the side hood/fender gap askew a little.

Interior
Orig interior was red but I wanted black. I recovered the factory seats adding padding to the front buckets to bolster them and give them a little more "bucket" to keep me in place. Replaced carpet, headliner, dash, and package tray.. Schroth harnesses,B&M shifter, Auto gauge gauges in carbon fiber look dash panel, shift light in a factory Tic Toc Tach where the clock was. MOMO Millenium wheel on the way. 50 W AM FM cassette W/6x9's

Engine
75 PONTIAC 400 With '68 #16 heads MSD pro billet, coil, and 6 box. Performer intake with carb spacers and Speed Demon carb fed by Holley Blue pump. Canton road race oil pan W/Melling standard pump special pickup welded in place. Professional products damper, Flow Kooler water pump. Turbo 350 with B&M supercooler and shift kit. Will probably go 5-6 speed standard in near future.
