Default project Manta

I have decided to start something a little different! i sold my 67 nova and got a little opel to mess with, it is a 72 manta which, although not too common in the usa they are definately rare in canada as they were not available for sale here, hoping to put a small turbo lump if possible , ecotec or nissan sr20 det etc, the car is only 2100lbs so doesnt need much motor, but dimensionally the ls1 is an easier fit! as the 4 bangers are all tall with front sump oilpans, i also want to go the irs route if i can sort something narrow enough, (50" track width!) and may need to graft new suspension on front to get bigger brakes etc, i got shawn mascoll to do a rendering and this is what he came up with, any comments appreciated

Sweet! Looking forward to seeing updates on this!

I assume you know about the Hilmersson Manta? http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/manta-bildarkiv/ One of my all-time favorite cars. The guy is a god damned savant when it comes to design and fabrication.

Staying tuned for this one. A-model Manta's were my favorite cars when i was crowing up... really like 'em in original GT/E trim.

I'll keep my I on this one. I have a soft spot for Opels. My mother had a 73 Manta when I was growing up.

Good luck.

i've just got back from a jdm engine supplier, i have been taking dimensions of a few motors, would really like the s2000 honda with 6 speed, i think it will be too tall as an s2000 has a large engine setback and it wont sit over the steering rack i dont think, would be awesome to shift gears at 9000rpm!
i think an irs may be out though as an s2000 and even a little miata irs are 60" wide and the manta is 50" track width! i will check a 3 series beemer next, if these motors are not suitable i may go the easy route and throw an ls1 in there, but would like to be a little more creative,
i would love to paint it green as above but my nova was similar so the cyber grey with deep red interior may look classy and not too over the top,
