Default Metal work begins

Over the X-mas holidays I was able to begin metal work on my '68 fastback. Overall progress has been slow because I have been living/working 250 miles from where I keep the car, but that is changing. Next week I begin a new job and I am moving back to where I keep the car. I'll really be able to start cooking now.

These pics are kind of boring, but if any of you guys are like me...then you enjoy looking at build pics no matter what they are. My first priority is replacing the RF framerail and rebuilding the core support so that I can get her on the rotisserie. Enjoy.

Next, I will brace up the shock towers and remove the suspension.

Default I like it

Sounds a lot like my Torino build. You will really like the RRS kit. I don't know about the slide a links but the Caltrack set up wiht leafs in the rear works out really well. Check out the Fays2 watts link also I think it would be a good addition to your set up. Check out the Road race TKO I think the OD is more realistic for a street car especialy with the TKOs low first gear.

FETorino, thanks for your suggestions. By road race TKO, do you mean the TKO-600 with the .82 OD gear? I also checked out the Fays2 Watts setup, I have also been looking at the Maier Racing panhard kit. The car will see more time on the street than a track or strip, but I'm trying to put the right equipment on the car that will allow me to set it up for all of the above.

Default Yep .82 vs .64

I don't have my TKO installed yet but first gear is lower than a wide ratio toploader and .64 is a huge rpm drop. Unless you want low rpm triple digit cruising or a brutaly low first gear then the .82 gear will be better suited to the car, JMO. First gear with 3.70 is like 4.56 with a close ratio toploader. On a mostly street car the Watts link may be the best $ spent even before the caltracks or slide a links. You can also have your stock leafs rebuilt and rearched with an added half leaf in the front to resist wrap up and help traction. I'd say good leafs with the extra anti wrap half leaf and the Watts link may be a great cost effective starting point for the street.
