Default Replacing upper cowl

Replacing sides and upper cowl on 69 Firebird. The upper cowl is arched about 1/2" -3/4" to high where it meets the glass. Whats the best method to take out some of the arch? Will placing 50 lbs. bags across the cowl remove some of the arch?
Thanks- Sims

How about drilling out the spot weld on the top panel then adjusting to the right height? Surely someones had this problem..

We completely removed and repaired the entire cowl on my 70 fastback stang. I would just drill out the welds as you need, and hammer/doll it to the right height. checkout the pics here of how we did our cowl.
