Default Setting up a gas tank for efi

Has anybody set up an older gas tank for efi? What I would like my end result to be would be using my stock gas tank (65 mustang btw) to be baffled and sumped. What I cant think of in my head is how the OE's baffle their tanks for an intank efi pump. I know I've read articles on people swapping in 5.0's with the efi, running an external pump w/o modifying the gas tank and being fine, but I want to cut corners (ovbiously since im here!) so I dont want to have to worry about my fuel pump becoming unsubmerged and burning up. Also, what kind of fuel pump can I run submerged, and how does the wiring work with that? (Gas and electricity seem a scary combo to me) Any info on this would be great, thanks guys!

I did this for a first generation Camaro; but frankly, it would have been better and only slghtly more expensive just to buy an aftermarket EFI tank and be done with it. Because of how it's mounted, the fuel sender is pegged on full until the fuel level is actually down to about 3/4s, then it plummets. Depending on where you are, the labor rates may be lower. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=116648

That said, the baffling is very effective and I get NO fuel drop out, even with an almost empty fuel tank. As you know, it's critical that the fuel pickup never be uncovered, not because you may burn up the fuel pump (although you may) but because you will have an instant loss of power in an EFI car if the pickup is sucking air.

Awesome, thanks! I'll be doing all the work myself, im a DIY kinda guy. One question I have is the sump/baffle assembly you bought from summit as low as it can go in the tank? What I mean is does the walls of the S/B assembly allow fuel from the entire tank into it? It seems pretty tall (Summit says 12") but doesnt look that low in your tank. Was any modifications needed to the S/B assembly? Anyways this looks to be just what I was looking for, thanks again for your quick and awesome response!!
