Default twin turbo ?

I have a new twin turbo 406 I just got running. It is set up mild right now at 5-6lbs of boost. Under boost it smokes real bad. Is this common until the rings seal or should I be looking for something else? This is my first time playing with turbos.

I have not used those, but heard they seal fast. The Speed Pro plasma moly's I use are seated immediately which is what I like about them.

Is there anywhere you could be pulling oil into the intake like a pcv, leaking intake gasket, etc.?

First, what color is the smoke? As a general rule, black smoke = fuel, bluish smoke under boost = oil , white can be coolant and or oil.

I'd be looking at the turbo first. The likely hood of the rings passing oil is less than the turbo pushing oil.

You might be able to pull the turbos and see if you have coking on the hot side housing at the inlet or any sign of oil there and then check the outlet side to kinda of get an idea of where it's coming from, if it oil smoke anyway.

Hey Daren,

You can do a scan with your FAST software and see what the oxygen sensor is telling you as far as potentially being rich. I would think you would have to be at 10.5 to 1 or richer to cause a lot of smoke. If it is oil smoke hopefully the rings will seat for you.
