Your best bet would be to find a designer running Solidworks IMO. The software is cheaper to buy/own as compared to ProEngineer or Catia and it's still very capable. Whoever you hire on, just make sure you own the 3D model and drawings after the design is done. If you ONLY get a set of engineering drawings after the job is done and you need to make changes 2 years down the road, you might have to re-create the 3D model. Make sure you get a complete package back.

I don't know current rates for Solidworks, but Dice and Monster.com should give you a ballpark number. Each region has different rates.

Just saw this post.
Contact me and we can talk about what you want to do.
I design everything in Unigraphics. Once the model is done you get the model in iges and Parasolid formats so you can use it and make changes at a later date.

Thanks Rick. I did not consider that. I thought if you paid for a design, you owned it. Good to know. Maybe there should be a service exchange section in the Artwork forum.

Mal,

Pm me with what you are looking for. I work with Solidworks. When done I can give you the model and drawings in multiple formats. No problem.

Thanks all who offered their services. I found a designer to help me.

I should have a project update to show in a couple weeks.
