What would you buy?

I am Active Duty military and I am headed off to Germany in Feb 2010. I have already decided to keep my 70 nova that is currently in the shop getting body work & paint completed. I had decided to buy an enclosed trailer that way I can store some garage equip. in it as well. My father is going to store the trailer in his back yard.

The question I have is. I am looking for a 24' so I'm looking online and notice the price ranges are from 4k-10K for a basic trailer with a few roof vents and a couple dome lights.
-What should I look for when I buy this trailer?
- Is there anything specific I should get added to the trailer to help preserve the car while stored?

Look up "Gregweld" here and ask him about his trailer. I have seen it in person and it is VERY nice with a ton of extras. But he made some good points about what he would do different if he got another one and it made good sense. Having never owned one myself and seeing what is out there the choices are almost overwhelming. He had some great advice on what works based on his own experiences over the years. And hes a nice guy too.

This prices vary and escalade quickly when you start adding all the goodies.
For the 5 grand your speaking of thats bare bones trailering unless you find a great deal on a used one. I prefer an all aluminum trailer light weight, no worries on rust. ATC (aluminum trailer.com) IMO are the best but there not cheap. If your looking at a used steel trailer the first thing I would look for is rust or pitting around the wheel wells. Once that starts it will continue to eat away at your side panels. Its called electro something? Make sure the trailer has the higher rated axles. Just because it has 2 axles doesnt mean it can haul the load. Also look under the trailer at the cross bars where the floor is screwed to if the floor is pulling away from the cross bars, forget it. At the same time check to see if cross bars are two ft centers or 16. 16" center make a huge difference on the trailer "twisting" when driving winding roads. Haulmark used to make 24" centers but that may have changed.
My reasons are for midwest winters, after several steel trailers my last two purchases have been aluminum both ATC. But out of the other steel ones I'd have to say Rance makes a pretty good trailer over the other ones I had.
(Pace, Vintage, Timberwolf) Im not a Haulmark fan I see too many of them for sale around here and there has to be a reason why.

Check to see what gauge the Aluminum panel skins are, the thicker the better especially if its a darker color trailer. (30 vs 50)The heat from the sun tends to warp the thinner gauge material, plus its easier to dent. Make sure the top is a one piece seamless.

I left Hurlburt Fld. in Feb. which is in the panhandle of FL outside Pensecola. Right now I am stationed in Honduras for the year and then off to Germany.
