10 psi at the cap is just a starting point.. on the fluid adjustment unscrew it all the way then squeeze the trigger and hold it. screw the fluid in until you feel it hit the trigger. then turn it about 1/2 a turn more.. this will give you the most fluid..you really want to adjust the pressure so that you have nice atomization of fluids. find a test panel and adjust your gun from there. you dont want the paint sprayin out in specs and you dont want it drying before it hits the panel. id start at little specs and add pressure till they go away. then adjust your fan to where its a nice solid pattern about 8-10" tall about 8-10" away from the gun. retest your pressure.. every paints viscosity is different so 10psi at the cap is just too much of a broad statement. i adjust my gun everyday..
