SOLD!!!! 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback. Show car, driver car, magazine cover and 5 page feature car. Here is the story:
The builder of this Fastback, Jim Brink from MN., purchased the car from a “friend of a friend” in May of 2005 as a rolling shell. The guy Jim purchased the car from bought it in 1979 from the original owner. He started the restoration in 1980. He replaced the rear quarters, outer wheel houses and floor pans with original Ford parts. You could buy them new at Ford in 1980. Some other small rust patches were repaired with metal. He sandblasted then painted the bottom of the car and the engine compartment. He stripped and then primed the rest of the car. After doing all the dirty work he lost interest and let it sit in his garage for over 20 years. That is where Jim enters the picture.
Jim started on the car the summer of 2005. He removed all the old primer down to bare metal. He cleaned and scuffed the interior sheet metal and rust proofed it with Eastwood encapsulator paint. The bottom of the car was scuffed and painted with Eastwood chassis black, then lightly under coated.
The body, doors and trunk lid went to the body shop in December 2005. The body man Jim used only works on these projects in the winter. He got as far as the final block sand in the spring of 2006. The final block sand and painting were done February 2007. All the painted parts were back from the body shop by May 2007. So some build details:

I acquired this car about 10 months ago and it has just been sitting in my garage. Time for a new project. This car goes down the road like a rocket and it runs nice and cool. I've driven it in 95 degree heat and it never over heated. With the overdrive transmission it will cruise the freeway at 75 mph with no problems. The car gets more positive comments then any other car I have built. The red exterior and the white interior is a great combination.
The car was photographed for a feature in Car Craft magazine during the Car Craft Nationals in July 2007. It’s on the cover of the Feb 2008 issue with feature inside on page 78. The car was also one of Car Crafts top 10 cars for 2008. The total build cost was over $50,000. The car is located in CA. Below are a few pictures. Also below are some Internet links. The first link is to the Car Craft feature on this car (the car will probably pop up on their subscription card as well!):

This next link is to an Internet picture hosting site. On this site are several more pictures of the Mustang. To have a good look at these pictures click on any one picture to start a slide show of 5X8 pictures. Then click on any 5X8 picture to see it full screen. There are many, many pictures on this site. Many close ups and angle shots to really show the car. I also have some shots of the magazine (Car Craft, February, 2008) this car was on the cover and was a five page feature. One small note about the engine bay pictures; the paper air filer has been replaced with a K&N since I took this picture. Finally. you will also see, at the bottom of the page, pictures from a recent Good Guys show in which this car was selected from among 100's of cars to be featured in the Optima Batteries booth:

Finally, here are two links to some (pretty cruddy) video of the car. The first one really shows how quickly this car grabs revs. The second is just a street shot:

As mentioned earlier in the ad, the car was a 3 year build and cost over $50,000 to build (I have receipts) Selling for $31,000. At 31K this car is a steal. Please call Chris at (650) 888-7520 with any questions.
Thanks!
