10" front wheels 1st gen Chassisworks subframe

So I know the 10" wheel up front has been done. I'm about to dive into minitubs in the rear and would like to slide my wheels right up to the front. Wheels are 17x10 w/ 5.75" backspace. Anybody know what backspace is optimal for the 10" wheel up front on a CA Chassisworks subframe? Would I have to homemade minitub the front? I don't want to mess with the outer lip at all.

Current wheel up front is 17x8 with I think 4.25"BS. So I would be adding 1/2" towards the lip which might be tight and the rest to the inside.

Advise, pics?

I would contact Jon Henson @ www.driverzinc and get his take,he's the expert here.

Oh and I'm guessing your front 17x8's aren't a 4.25" b/s,probably more like 4.5-4.75".

Looking up a little info, I think you're right, 4.75" bs on the front sounds more like it.... that means I'll be putting the fronts a whole inch closer to the outer fenders.

I have found a couple cars that have done the 10" wheel so far through searching, looks like 5.75" bs on both, so it's looking doable

If you have a 4.75" BS now, then you would be adding an inch to the front side of the wheel, and an inch to the back, if you go 5.75" on a 10" wheel. Using your existing wheel, your 8", as a mock up wheel, do you have room to go outboard and inboard an inch?

Just moved shops from house garage to detached garage, need to get it back up on the jackstands this weekend to take a good look. I already have the 10" wheels w/285's mounted already so I'm gonna just take them off the back and see if I can jam them in there. I found something I forgot I had while moving shop, the shock simulator that came with the sub-frame. Straight bar w/ 1 hole at one end and 3 at the other for ride hieght, full compression, full extension.

Do I need full clearance lock to lock at full compression?

I'll mock it and take some pics, see how much cutting I need to do.

The Cheassisworks clips is stock track width. Your going to need 6.75" BS on that 10" front wheel

Just mocked up my 285/40/17 on 10" wheel w/ 5.75" BS and took some pics. With my shock simulator in ride height position it does not fit

It clears fender fwd of the wheel and the frame just fine but it hits the fender on the aft side of the wheel... just barely. But even if it cleared the fender, it would hit the wheelwell the further it turns. I got it to turn a little more than half way, it hit at ~60% from straight to lock.

Honestly the wheel tire looks awsome in there, almost perfect fit. Should I just mod the aft of the fender well little or do I need to just stick w/ the 245's?

Yup, needs to come in a inch. You will bend the fender in a bad bump wth the tire out that far.

If I increase bs 1", I'll hit the frame/inner well before lock w/ the front of the tire. Would I have to limit the steering?
