Default CTS-V front drive

I have this set up for a f-body. But I need to use the corvette set up to clear my after market frame. Will I have to change my water pump and hormonic balancer to make the belt line up right? If so it looks like I will have more parts for sale.

From my research.... if you are using an (ls1) f-body drive or c5 corvette setup, you need to use an f-body or c5 vette WP and balancer. LS2 & LS3 are different. If you end up selling the WP and balancer let me know, I am looking for both & will take them off your hands.

Balancer and water pump for the CTS-V are the same as the Corvette; you can reuse those parts.

The CTS-V F-body is from PACE brandnew and they have a CTS-V corvette which I was going to buy.

I started reading some info in my HOW TO SWAP GM LS-SERIES ENGINES INTO ALMOST ANYTHING book ( I know kinda cheezy but I had to start some where) and it said the the F-body damper is 3/4 longer then the corvette and that the 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 truck engines are 1 1/2 inches longer.

The damper I have now and water pump fit perfect with the F-body CTS-V but the problem I have is the alternator hits my rack/pinion.

Now this book hasn't been totally right. Other things like the correct oil pan to use for a mustang 2 front end was wrong. It said I must use a corvette pan but that didn't work so I bought a camaro pan and it fit fine.

I bought a very cool engine with some great parts but it seems like Im slowly having to change things to get it to work.

This engine is going into a older Fatman mustang 2 frame. For my 69 firebird. I had a SBC with a 5 speed before the swap. o I had to get different bellhousing and clutch to handle the 500+HP.

F-Body and CTS-V are different. The F-Body is 5/8" further out. The CTS-V and Corvette are the same and closer to the block. The CTS-V and Corvette use the same balancer and waterpump spacing. You'll notice on the Pace site the note for the CTS-V and Corvette both say they require balancer 12620556.

sorry you're having the troubles. I bought that unit for my C6 front clip, and the fact that it has the alternator lower which to me looked better. If you haven't sold any of the stuff, it looked like all the Vette deal did was swap the alt with the ps pump. If true, I wonder if Pace or GM Parts Direct or similar can just get you the correct alt and ps brackets for the Vette setup, and if that would be a lot easier and cheaper. I think the alternator itself and ps pump would interchange, it's just the brackets that change.

Thank you for the replies. I got plenty of time to to get things worked out now since I just got my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday. I plan to make some calls and keep moving forward.

My wiring harness is now at Speartech getting reworked along with the computer. John was really patient and explained everything.

Jody I'll never forget when you said "this isn't just a drop in".
