Default Rick's efi tank to carb plumbing? Will it work?

Here's what I was thinking for the 68 bird, let me know what you think. I've got a Rick's efi tank w/built in walbro-255 pump and -6an feed/return. Feed 3/8" soft line to filter, then soft line from filter to Aeromotive A2000 carbureted bypass regulator (set at approx. 6 psi), feed line from regulator to fuel log w/gauge feeding a race demon 750. Also a 3/8" return line from regulator back to tank, the regulator will be set up at the tank end of the car. I would use 5052-0 aluminum tubing for hard line, should I use an flares or compression? What do you think, will it work. Has anyone gone this rout with a carb? Are there any negatives? Motor is a pontiac 400 stroked to 461, should be alittle over 500 hp/550torq.

IMHO it Won't work dude! <said Spicolli syle>

Pump will be trying to make 40+ #'s of pressure at a high rate of flow.... and you're pushing that through a CARB regulator.... and trying to reduce it to 6#'s.

You'll end up with a bunch of cavitation and most likely a burned up pump.

Now -- there are "experts" on here that know far far more than I ever dreamed of... and have done more. So maybe one of them will jump in here and tell you that you can do this. But not IMHO....

You've got to talk to Ricks and see if they have a carb solution for your EFI tank/pump.

I've used their regulators that are specifically made for EFI pumps with a carb, and they worked fine. A regular carb type regulator will not work with an EFI pump, but the 13224 A1000 carb regulator or the A2000 should work fine.

In a return style it should be OK. I'd run -8 on the return even with the reducer at the tank unless it's a really short run.

Thanks Todd, as you know the tank came with -6 fittings, I wish they were -8. If I ran the return all the way to the motor I'd run 1/2" but I'm just keeping it at the tank. Contemplated changing out the fittings on the tank like you did but I'm at the point I just don't want to hassle with it if it will work as is... poor excuse, but I'll change it if there are problems.
