Chad, Are you sure its not the 375hp 396? In 67' I am pretty sure the 425hp version was a 427. As far as I know the only 425hp 396 was built in 1965.

Either way it would have been more valuable left in STOCK condition. IMHO

Are the first 3 numbers of VIN 136?

WE are getting the car ready to run across the Auction block at the Mecum auction January 25th-30th. Car is scheduled for 8:15 PM SAturday night in a FEature primetime spot. Doing some simple stuff like cleaning, painting, detailing little pieces etc. Also did some big changes did a complete overhaul on the looks of the motor. Removed the stamped steel valve covers and such, and replaced them with a set of cast aluminum covers that I spent almost 100 hours on hand polishing them, also replaced the air cleaner with a Billet piece. Also hooked up with Frank at Prodigy for a MArch Serpentine setup and Vintage Air unit. I can't even describe how much better it looks.

Also doing a few other things. I sold the 17's currently on it to Bill Howell so I will post pictures later today of the 19" Boze Forged Speedsters in a 19x8 ans 19x10. Did them with Polished hoops, and brushed centers with a polished line in the spoke. Also replaced the front 12" single piston brakes with 355 Z06 rotors with the 6 piston Z06 Calipers from KORE3.

heres the motor before the changes

Here is a crappy cell phone pic with the new addtions to the motor
