Default Got a ticket for no front license plate tonight

I have been driving my 80 Z28 around for 4 years now in Missouri with no front license plate. I painted 4 years ago and put a new nose on and can't stand the thought of drilling holes in it. I have driven the car in 3 different states and got a ticket tonight from a small town cop. No cops in my home town have cared about it. Think I still should gotten a warning first.

I actually had a cop make a u-turn in the middle of an intersection full lights and sirens, follows me for 2 blocks only to pull me over and say, you didn't do anything wrong I'm just going to give you a ticket for no front plate. Then tells me to have a nice day. Dickhead. I guess doing actual police work is too much to ask for.

Given the revenue squeeze most areas face today, I think we'll see even more nit-picking enforcement of vehicle laws. I figure I'm going to make it as hard as possible for a cop to give me a ticket. When my project '68's on the road, I'll be running the front plate, all side markers, all lights will work, the car won't be excessively loud, and so on.

If I get a ticket, it's going to be because I've been stupid and careless (got caught).

Unfortunately, you're right.
Revenue generation is becoming the key these day's

Instead of figuring out how to spend less and live within a budget like the rest of us, government would rather find ways to nit-pick and fine us to death!

Our city just installed electronic card reading parking meters!
The ordinance says every vehicle must pay to park.

In days gone by, it was the space that was being rented, period!
If the car ahead of you finished their business early, you could make use of the extra time on the meter.
Many time, I'd be headed out, see someone pulling into the space behind me (with no time on the meter) and tell them to hang on and they can have this one!

No more
Now, if our parking whores catch you entering a space, even if there's time left on the meter, they can, and some will, ticket you because "you" didn't pay to park!

I'm hoping we eventually get this rip off in front of a judge and set a precedent, but I'm not hoping for much around here

Fines, penalties, ticket costs, all rising to "make up" for the shortfall, instead of being fiscally conservative in their spending!

As for the front plates, there are a couple of manufactures that make hidden plate holders for the Corvette. Slide away frames, and such.
I'll bet there's something out there for our cars as well.
If not, this might be an opportunity knocking

they do that alot in our surrounding towns here in conn. the police cars have cameras outside on the trunk and scan cars to see if they are registered.so that alone heightens the tickey.

Isn't the no front plate citation just a fix it ticket with no fine ? Not much revenue generating there. Just a guy being a punk.

fix it tickets have fines also now. Must have been a while since you had one...........

In Elk Grove they do "drive by" fix it tickets, they don't even pull you over! They just observe something and mail you a ticket with a fine attached. Got one for a headlight out in the sweeper truck, never pulled my guy over just mailed me the ticket with the $25 fine and proof of repair. Another friend got one for no brake lights; he was sitting at a light in neutral, with his foot off the brake (stick shift car). Cop saw no lights and assumed they were out, mailed him a ticket. He went to court and got it tossed, but had to eat up a bunch of time and gas, etc.

They make the fine low enough that most don't protest, they just pay it to avoid the hassle.

On our way to SEMA in '09 - we had 4 guys in two BMW's - an M5 and an M6...

Yes we went on the most back roads we could find - and we hauled booty.... My buddy gets a ticket for 104.... and when we settle into our rooms in LV we had a little chat about this. I said he should call the county and ask about what he could do to reduce any points his license would be charged with etc. Said that I had gotten a ticket in California - and they allowed you to plead guilty and pay the full fine - but you could also take an on-line driving course and that would automatically reduce the points assigned. To me - it's not the fine - it's the insurance.

Long and short of the story - the county tells him if he's willing to pay the fine in full ($400+) they would reduce his ticket to "equipment failure". The gal told him straight out - that they really need the revenue, so agreeing to pay the full fine was what they were interested in.

I got a fix it ticket for no front plate on my work truck, parked at a jobsite, inside working, and came out to find it. Pure and simple revenue for the city.

If I remember correctly it was $105.....Oh and let me correct that, I did not even have to show proof I corrected the problem. So I guess it was not actual fix it ticket. Just had to pay the fine.........then they made sure to drive by the same jobsite everyday for some more revenue for the City. Just a little bitter.
