New metal or not, you get what you pay for.Paying 5k for a 10 footer is probably OK ,I guess, but if you want real quality, expect to pay 10-15k.Have you priced just the materials? As of Jan 1st. most suppliers had a price increase of 30-35% across the board.

As the old saying goes "Get it done right the first time, it's cheaper". I've seen it proven too many times.

Just because you have new metal does not mean that you will not have panels that have to be worked on get them straight.. We have done body & paint on cars that owners did the metal work & still comes in around 12K to 14K.. reproduction sheetmetal requires skim coats of filler to get it straight..

A few questions..
What primer is on the car now? We use DTM primers.. Direct to Metal.. WE can sand in 80 grit & apply filler on top of that.. other primers require that remove it to apply filler to get a good grip..

Are you good with all the gaps & openings on the doors, trunk, hood as the car sits now? That has impact on quoted pricing..

Materials are expensive.. go to your local Paint supply store & get a quote on materials..

1 gallon & half on paint( colors have an impact on pricing.. reds are more expensive than white) extra paint is good to have around.. We are mandated to use water bourne paints in Ventura county..

I usually go thru 1 gallon to 2 in clear..

Primers- Range from 3 to 4 gallons for us.. different brands with different pricing.. ranging from 150.00 to 300.00 x 3 or 4

Brands of material also play a big factor on pricing.. We use PPG....

Paint the car white! cheaper!!

Bottom line.. You get what you pay for!

So far the car in in Epoxy. I have done all the gaps since the last pics I posted. I was thinking about finishing the door jams myself and inside the engine bay. I am starting to realize all the costs now. This hobby is expensive lol. I realize you get what you pay for, I just don't have that kind of money in my budget. Thanks for all the input guys. Keep you posted.

Jay- try to do as much of the work as possible as you can.. PM if you have any question to guide you in the right direction.. If you can get as much of the body work done urself.. you will save a ton of money..

Yes.. This hobby is expensive.. but it is a hobby that we try to do as much of the work ourselfs.. I used do it all before I started doing it as business..
